How about 100 Moms?

The whole reason that I made the goal of reaching 1000 moms was because I knew there was a possibility that the work would be slow to begin and I didn't want to let myself throw in the towel.  But I have to admit there are days when I've asked myself "Why didn't you just call it 100 Moms??"  Do I need 1000 moms to define success?  No.  Success came to me in the form of an email from someone who came to a workshop last month.  After listing all the changes she has incorporated in her life she went on to say:

"... I think what you are doing is awesome.  I know your workshops can help a lot of Moms if they can just spare the time to the come to the workshop.  I will continue to share your info and how it is helping me. I loved hearing about common struggles we all shared and awesome practical ideas I took away from that morning.  It was truely an investment of time and energy that will change my life - honestly!!!!!!"

Now that's success ... and to be honest that is the whole reason why I'm doing this.  (And while I've worked very hard to internalize the workshops and 'make them mine' so to speak... this is all based on the great work of the Power of Moms ... credit where credit's due!)

And now the bad news... the five workshops at the Bearspaw Lifestyle Center have all had to be cancelled because only 2 people in total have registered, on different days.  There is still one pending, Oct 16, but it's not looking good.

But some more good news... I have hosted two workshops in my home, well two workshops and one follow up session, all with very positive feedback from the participants.  That was my first 12 participants.  And earlier this week I had the privilege of providing a 5 Steps to Less Stress workshop for 14 women, hosted in the home of a friend of mine.  So, that makes 26 women.

And what have I learned?  If I was a business person I would change my marketing strategy.  People are more interested in a home based workshop than a public workshop.  And that makes sense to me.  First, we are more likely to carve out time for something if one of our friends is hosting, if nothing else we get a social evening out of it!  Second, there is now an instant support system to making the changes you want to make.  And third, there is an opportunity to give people a sense of being accountable to making change.

What do I believe?  This work is a gift.  A gift from the Power of Moms team.  A gift that you give yourself.  A gift that you give your friends.

Have a wonderful day
